Frenchwoman Leolia Jeanjean moved into the last 16 of the Barranquilla Open by winning against Greek Despina Papamichail 6-4, 6-3 on Tuesday evening.
The world No 144 played well under pressure to win the contest, defending four of six break points to win in straight sets.
Jeanjean will face the winner of the match between Frenchwoman Carole Monnet and Argentinian Julia Riera, the No 7 seed, next.
