Chinese Lin Zhu won against Pole Magda Linette, the No 3 seed, 6-3, 6-0 to move into the quarter-finals of the Birmingham Classic at Edgbaston Priory Club on Wednesday afternoon.
Zhu, ranked No 39, will play the winner of the match between Canadian lucky loser Rebecca Marino and American qualifier Emina Bektas next.
The Chinese defeated Katie Boulter (7-5, 7-5) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round of the Birmingham tournament, Linette, ranked No 20, edged out Italian Jasmine Paolini (3-6, 7-5, 6-4).
