Budapest Open: Korpatsch makes last four

German qualifier Tamara Korpatsch defeated Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 to reach the semi-finals of the Budapest Open at Római Tennis Academy on Thursday afternoon.

Korpatsch, ranked No 118, will face Hungarian Anna Bondar, the second seed, next.

The German edged out Italian Lucia Bronzetti, the No 4 seed (2-6, 6-4, 6-4) and Montenegrin Danka Kovinic (6-3, 1-6, 7-5) ahead of her victory.

In the previous rounds, Rus, ranked No 101, won against Brazilian Laura Pigossi (6-2, 6-2) and edged out Hungarian wildcard Natalia Szabanin (4-6, 6-4, 6-4).
