Budapest Open: Waltert books spot in second round

Simona Waltert benefited from the abandonment of Cristina Bucsa (4-0) on Tuesday night and will face the winner of the match between Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto and Hungarian Anna Bondar, the second seed, in the next round

Swiss Simona Waltert moved into the second round of the Budapest Open when Spaniard Cristina Bucsa retired at Római Tennis Academy on Tuesday night.

Waltert, ranked No 119, led 4-0 when Bucsa, ranked No 112, pulled out at Római Tennis Academy on Tuesday night.

The 21-year-old Swiss will face the winner of the match between Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto and Hungarian Anna Bondar, the second seed, next.
