Tamara Zidansek defeated Jule Niemeier 6-3, 7-6 (11) on Wednesday. She’ll play the winner of the match between Swiss Simona Waltert and Hungarian Anna Bondar, the second seed, in the next round

Slovenian Tamara Zidansek beat German Jule Niemeier 6-3, 7-6 (11) to advance to the last 8 of the Budapest Open at Római Tennis Academy on Wednesday.

Zidansek, ranked No 100, will face the winner of the match between Swiss Simona Waltert and Hungarian Anna Bondar, the second seed, next.

In the previous round, the Slovenian won against Hungarian wildcard Fanny Stollar (6-1, 7-5).

Niemeier, ranked No 72, defeated Pole Magdalena Frech (6-4, 5-7, 6-3) in the first round.
