Colombian Emiliana Arango won against Canadian Marina Stakusic, the No 4 seed, 6-4, 7-6 (0) to advance to the last 8 of the Cancun Tennis Open on Wednesday.
Arango, ranked No 169, will play the winner of the match between French lucky loser Selena Janicijevic and American Varvara Lepchenko, the No 5 seed, next.
The Colombian beat American qualifier Whitney Osuigwe (6-4, 6-4) in the previous round.
