Egyptian Mayar Sherif advanced to the last 16 of the Catalonia Open by beating Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 on Wednesday.
Sherif, ranked No 72, will play the winner of the match between Spaniard Nuria Parrizas Diaz and Romanian Ana Bogdan, the No 8 seed, next.
