Charleston Open 125: Shnaider books spot in quarter-finals

Russian Diana Shnaider, the No 7 seed, beat Romanian Jaqueline Cristian 6-1, 7-5 to advance to the last eight of the Charleston Open 125 at the Family Circle Tennis Center on Wednesday evening.

Shnaider, ranked No 74, will face the winner of the match between Italian Martina Trevisan, the No 3 seed, and Frenchwoman Oceane Dodin next.

The 19-year-old Russian won against American wildcard Dalayna Hewitt (6-2, 6-4) in the previous round of the Charleston 125 tournament.

During the first round of the Charleston 125 tournament, Cristian, ranked No 82, won against Australian qualifier Olivia Gadecki (6-2, 3-6, 6-3).
