Charleston Open: Cristian knocks out home favourite Navarro

Romanian Jaqueline Cristian reached the quarter-finals of the Charleston Open by winning against American Emma Navarro, the No 10 seed, 6-3, 5-7, 6-1 at the Family Circle Tennis Center on Thursday evening.
Cristian, ranked No 83, will face Russian Daria Kasatkina, the No 4 seed, next.
In the previous rounds of the Charleston tournament, the Romanian defeated American qualifier Sachia Vickery (6-1, 6-4) and American Madison Keys, the No 8 seed (3-6, 6-3, 6-3).
Navarro, ranked No 20, beat qualifier Katie Volynets (6-1, 6-1) in the previous round of the Charleston tournament.
