Charleston Open: Grabher moves into last 16

Austrian Julia Grabher beat American qualifier Sachia Vickery 6-1, 6-2 to move into the last 16 of the Charleston Open at the Family Circle Tennis Center on Wednesday evening.

Grabher, ranked No 89, will play the winner of the match between Kazakh Yulia Putintseva and Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 7 seed, next.

In the previous round of the Charleston tournament, the Austrian won against Chinese Shuai Zhang, the No 10 seed (6-4, 1-6, 6-3).

Vickery, ranked No 187, defeated qualifier Kayla Day (6-4, 6-2) in the first round of the Charleston tournament.
