American qualifier Catherine McNally reached the second round of the Charleston Open by edging out Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 at the Family Circle Tennis Center on Monday.
McNally, ranked No 397, will play No 14 seed Anna Kalinskaya next.
