China Open: Zheng too good for Podoroska, eases into last 16

Chinese Qinwen Zheng, the No 5 seed, won against Argentinian Nadia Podoroska 6-3, 6-2 to move into the last 16 of the China Open at the National Tennis Center in Beijing.

Zheng, ranked No 7, will play American Amanda Anisimova, the No 34 seed, next.

The 21-year-old Chinese defeated Russian lucky loser Kamilla Rakhimova (6-1, 6-1) in the previous round of the Beijing tournament.

In the previous rounds of the Beijing tournament, Podoroska, ranked No 66, won against Chinese wildcard Yufei Ren (6-4, 6-2) and Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska, the No 25 seed (7-5, 6-7 (4), 6-2).
