Western & Southern Open: Jabeur fights past Kalinina to book spot in round of 16

Ons Jabeur, the No 5 seed, edged out Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina 6-3, 6-7 (2), 7-6 (2) to move into the round of 16 at the Western & Southern Open at the Linder Tennis Family Center in Cincinnati on Tuesday evening.

It was the Tunisian’s first match on the WTA Tour since Wimbledon, and she did it the hard way, falling behind 1-5 in the third set before clawing her way back to win the decider in a tiebreak.

Kalinina, ranked No 28, won against Chinese Lin Zhu (6-3, 7-5) in the previous round of the Cincy Open.
