Frenchwoman Diane Parry, the No 5 seed, edged out Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle 1-6, 6-3, 7-5 to reach the second round of the Colina Open at the Club Deportivo Universidad Catolica on Tuesday.
Parry, ranked No 104, will face Frenchwoman Fiona Ferro next.
