Cornet sets up semi-final against compatriot Garcia in Bad Homburg, beats Kerber

Frenchwoman Alize Cornet, the No 9 seed, moved into the last four of the Bad Homburg Open by beating German Angelique Kerber, the No 3 seed, 6-4, 2-6, 6-1.
Cornet, ranked No 44, will face her countrywoman Caroline Garcia next.
The Frenchwoman won against Russian Anna Kalinskaya (6-2, 6-4) and German wildcard Tatjana Maria (7-6 (4), 6-4) ahead of her victory.
In the previous rounds, Kerber, ranked No 18, defeated Russian qualifier Anastasia Gasanova (6-2, 6-2) and Italian Lucia Bronzetti (6-2, 6-3).
