American Madison Brengle, the second seed, won against Canadian Carol Zhao 6-4, 6-1 to reach the second round of the Dow Tennis Classic at Greater Midland Tennis Center on Tuesday evening.

Brengle, ranked No 52, will play wildcard Sofia Kenin next.
