Australian Astra Sharma advanced to the last eight of the Dow Tennis Classic by beating Russian Anastasia Tikhonova 6-3, 6-3 on Thursday.
Sharma, ranked No 260, will play No 3 seed Alycia Parks next.
In the previous round, the Australian edged out American Ann Li, the No 5 seed (6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (3)).
Tikhonova, ranked No 188, won against American Sophie Chang (7-5, 6-1) in the previous round.
