Dubai Duty Free Championships: Pliskova advances to quarter-finals
Karolina Pliskova defeated Anhelina Kalinina 7-5, 6-7 (6), 6-2 on Wednesday night and will play the winner of the match between Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed, and Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the No 14 seed, in the next round

Czech Karolina Pliskova advanced to the last 8 of the Dubai Duty Free Championships by defeating Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina 7-5, 6-7 (6), 6-2 at The Aviation Club Tennis Centre on Wednesday.
Pliskova, ranked No 18, will play the winner of the match between Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed, and Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the No 14 seed, next.
The Czech won against Marketa Vondrousova (6-3, 6-4) and Greek Maria Sakkari, the No 6 seed (6-1, 6-2) ahead of her victory.
In the previous rounds of the Dubai Open, Kalinina, ranked No 33, edged out Russian Veronika Kudermetova, the No 10 seed (6-3, 5-7, 7-5) and won against qualifier Dayana Yastremska (5-7, 6-2, 6-3).
