Karolina Muchova reached the quarter-finals of the Eastbourne Open by beating Pole qualifier Magda Linette 6-4, 6-1 at Devonshire Park Lawn Club on Wednesday.
Out for 10 months due to injury, Muchova, ranked No 35, will play American Madison Keys, the No 4 seed, next.
Karolina Muchova benefited from the abandonment of Russian qualifier Elina Avanesyan (3-1) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round of the Eastbourne tournament, Linette, ranked No 46, edged out Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, the No 8 seed (1-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4).
