Grand Est Open: Pavlyuchenkova beats Errani to reach semi-finals

Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, the No 8 seed, advanced to the semi-finals of the Grand Est Open by winning against Italian Sara Errani, the No 3 seed, 6-1, 6-0 at Tennis Club de Contrexéville in Contréxeville.

Pavlyuchenkova, ranked No 119, will face qualifier Tereza Martincova next.

The Russian edged out French wildcard Amandine Hesse (6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (7)) and defeated Spanish lucky loser Rosa Vicens Mas (6-4, 7-6 (4)) in the previous rounds of the Contréxeville tournament.

Earlier in the tournament, Errani, ranked No 79, won against Frenchwoman Elsa Jacquemot (7-6 (5), 7-5) and Russian qualifier Anastasia Tikhonova (6-2, 7-5).
