German Tatjana Maria, the No 4 seed, won against Australian Olivia Gadecki 7-5, 6-0 to move into the semi-finals of the Guadalajara 125 Open.
Maria, ranked No 99, will face Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, the top seed, next.
The 37-year-old German defeated American Kayla Day (7-6 (7), 6-4) and Filipino Alexandra Eala (7-5, 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds, Gadecki, ranked No 154, beat Argentinian Julia Riera, the No 8 seed (6-4, 6-2) and edged out Italian Lucrezia Stefanini (6-1, 4-6, 6-4).
