Pole Magdalena Frech, the No 5 seed, defeated American Emina Bektas 6-4, 6-4 to reach the second round of the Guadalajara Open at the Panamerican Tennis Center on Wednesday night.
Frech, ranked No 43, will face American Ashlyn Krueger next.
