Hamburg European Open: Korpatsch books spot in quarter-finals

German Tamara Korpatsch, the second seed, advanced to the last 8 of the Hamburg European Open when Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu retired on Tuesday afternoon.
Korpatsch, ranked No 109, led 6-4, 3-1 when Begu, ranked No 143, pulled out on Tuesday.
The German will play Romanian Elena-Gabriela Ruse next.
In the previous round, Tamara Korpatsch edged out Greek Despina Papamichail (6-0, 2-6, 6-4).
The 33-year-old Romanian defeated Latvian Darja Semenistaja (6-3, 6-2) in the previous round.
