Hobart International: Joint books spot in semi-finals

Australian wildcard Maya Joint defeated American wildcard Sofia Kenin 6-3, 6-1 to move into the semi-finals of the Hobart International at Hobart’s Domain Tennis Centre on Thursday.
Joint, ranked No 118, will face the winner of the match between Russian Veronika Kudermetova and Belgian Elise Mertens, the second seed, next.
The 18-year-old Australian won against Serb Olga Danilovic (6-2, 6-3) and Pole Magda Linette, the No 4 seed (6-1, 6-1) ahead of her victory.
In the previous rounds of the Hobart tournament, Kenin, ranked No 81, won against New Zealander Lulu Sun, the No 5 seed (4-6, 6-3, 6-3) and Russian Anna Blinkova (6-2, 3-6, 6-2).
