Katerina Siniakova reached the final of the Hong Kong Open by beating Italian Martina Trevisan, the No 6 seed, 6-4, 6-2 on Saturday night.
Siniakova, ranked No 85, will face Canadian Leylah Fernandez next. It’s her second final of the year and ninth WTA singles final in all.
Katerina Siniakova won against Chinese Xiyu Wang (6-4, 7-6 (7)), Russian Kamilla Rakhimova (6-7 (3), 6-3, 6-1) and Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (7-6 (1), 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of the Hong Kong tournament, Trevisan, ranked No 42, defeated Spaniard Cristina Bucsa (7-5, 6-2), Pole Magdalena Frech (6-3, 6-7 (4), 6-3) and Belgian Elise Mertens, the No 3 seed (6-4, 6-3).
