Top seed Diana Shnaider advanced to the last 8 of the Hungarian Open by defeating qualifier Ekaterina Makarova 6-3, 6-3 at Római Tennis Academy in Budapest.
Shnaider, ranked No 28, will face the winner of the match between Hungarian Anna Bondar and German lucky loser Ella Seidel next.
Diana Shnaider edged out Hungarian wildcard Fanny Stollar (6-3, 3-6, 6-4) in the previous round of the Budapest tournament.
In the previous round of the Budapest tournament, Makarova, ranked No 183, won against Hungarian wildcard Timea Babos (6-3, 6-1).
