Croat lucky loser Lea Boskovic won against American qualifier Varvara Lepchenko 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the last 8 of the Iasi Open at the Ciric Sports Base.
Boskovic, ranked No 202, will face the winner of the match between Russian Mirra Andreeva, the top seed, and Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich next.
The Croat defeated Russian Maria Timofeeva (7-5, 6-1) in the previous round of the Iasi tournament.
In the previous round of the Iasi tournament, Lepchenko, ranked No 187, won against Italian Martina Trevisan, the No 6 seed (5-7, 6-4, 6-3).
