IEB + Argentina Open: Kawa advances to last four

Pole Katarzyna Kawa advanced to the semi-finals of the IEB + Argentina Open by edging out Latvian Darja Semenistaja, the No 7 seed, 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 on Friday evening.
Kawa, ranked No 296, will play the winner of the match between No 3 seed Maria Lourdes Carle and No 6 seed Julia Riera next.
Earlier in the tournament, the Pole edged out American Varvara Lepchenko, the No 9 seed (2-6, 6-2, 6-4) and defeated Hungarian Panna Udvardy (3-6, 6-2, 6-3).
Semenistaja, ranked No 121, won against Pole Maja Chwalinska (6-3, 4-6, 6-2) and edged out Colombian Emiliana Arango (6-3, 5-7, 6-4) in the previous rounds.
