Indian qualifier Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi beat Japanese qualifier Mei Yamaguchi 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 to reach the semi-finals of the L & T Mumbai Open on Friday afternoon.
Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi will face Swiss Jil Teichmann, the No 5 seed, next.
The Indian won against Belarusian lucky loser Iryna Shymanovich (6-4, 6-1) and Kazakh Zarina Diyas (6-3, 3-2 ret.) in the previous rounds.
Earlier in the tournament, Yamaguchi, ranked No 285, benefited from the abandonment of Israeli Lina Glushko (6-3, 5-4) and edged out Swiss Simona Waltert (7-6 (3), 2-6, 6-4).
