Italian Open: Cristian advances to third round
Jaqueline Cristian won against Yulia Putintseva 7-6 (2), 7-5 on Thursday. She’ll face the winner of the match between Russian Diana Shnaider, the No 13 seed, and American Caroline Dolehide in the next round

Romanian Jaqueline Cristian moved into the third round of the Italian Open by winning against Kazakh Yulia Putintseva, the No 23 seed, 7-6 (2), 7-5 at the Foro Italico in Rome on Thursday.
Cristian, ranked No 74, will face the winner of the match between Russian Diana Shnaider, the No 13 seed, and American Caroline Dolehide next.
In the previous round of the Rome tournament, the Romanian defeated American Alycia Parks (6-2, 6-0).
