Italian Open: Third seed Gauff eases into third round
Coco Gauff won against Magdalena Frech 6-3, 6-3 on Thursday evening. She’ll play the winner of the match between Russian Elina Avanesyan and Romanian lucky loser Jaqueline Cristian in the next round

American Coco Gauff, the No 3 seed, beat Pole Magdalena Frech 6-3, 6-3 to move into the third round of the Italian Open at the Foro Italico in Rome on Thursday evening.
Gauff, ranked No 3, will face the winner of the match between Russian Elina Avanesyan and Romanian lucky loser Jaqueline Cristian next.
In the previous round of the Rome tournament, Frech, ranked No 55, won against American Ashlyn Krueger (7-6 (2), 6-3).
