Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 12 seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Italian Open by winning against Colombian qualifier Camila Osorio 6-3, 6-3 at the Foro Italico in Rome on Monday.
Haddad Maia, ranked No 15, will play Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina, the No 30 seed, next.
The Brazilian beat Romanian qualifier Elena-Gabriela Ruse (6-2, 6-3) and Pole Magda Linette, the No 17 seed (7-5, 6-4) in the previous rounds of the Rome tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Osorio, ranked No 100, won against Russian Varvara Gracheva (7-6 (4), 1-6, 7-6 (4)), Croat Petra Martic, the No 29 seed (6-4, 6-2) and Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the No 5 seed (6-4, 6-4).
