Italian Open: Krejcikova into third round as Kovinic retires injured late in second set

Czech Barbora Krejcikova, the No 10 seed, advanced to the third round of the Italian Open when Montenegrin Danka Kovinic retired on Friday at the Foro Italico in Rome.
Krejcikova, ranked No 13, led 6-2, 4-1 when Kovinic, ranked No 69, pulled out at the Foro Italico in Rome on Friday afternoon.
The Czech will play the winner of the match between Romanian Sorana Cirstea and Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the No 20 seed, next.
In the previous round of the Rome tournament, the Montenegrin defeated Italian Lucia Bronzetti (6-3, 3-6, 6-3).
