Italian Open: Sherif makes round of 32, will face Azarenka

Egyptian Mayar Sherif edged out Italian Jasmine Paolini, the No 11 seed, 7-6 (4), 2-6, 6-4 to advance to the 32 of the Italian Open at the Foro Italico in Roma on Friday evening.
Sherif, ranked No 80, will face Belarusian Victoria Azarenka, the No 24 seed, next.
The Egyptian won against Croat Petra Martic (6-2, 6-2) in the previous round of the Rome tournament.
