Anhelina Kalinina got the best of Leolia Jeanjean in three sets on Monday in Merida. Kalinina awaits either Marta Kostyuk or Daria Saville.

Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina held off French qualifier Leolia Jeanjean 6-4, 1-6, 6-1 in the first round of the Mérida Open Akron on Monday evening.
Kalinina, ranked No 52, will next meet the winner of a match between Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, the No 6 seed, and Australian qualifier Daria Saville.
