Kasatkina outlasts Stephens in Indian Wells

Russian Daria Kasatkina, the No 11 seed, edged out American Sloane Stephens 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 to move into the last 16 of the Indian Wells at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Monday evening.

Kasatkina, ranked No 12, will face Chinese Yue Yuan next.

Ahead of her victory, the Russian beat Frenchwoman Oceane Dodin (6-3, 7-6 (5)).

Stephens, ranked No 44, won against Egyptian Mayar Sherif (7-5, 6-3) and Romanian Sorana Cirstea, the No 19 seed (6-0, 7-5) in the previous rounds of the Indian Wells tournament.
