American qualifier Elizabeth Mandlik defeated Frenchwoman Diane Parry 7-5, 6-2 to reach the last 16 of the Kinoshita Group Japan Open Tennis Championships on Tuesday.
Mandlik, ranked No 167, will play the winner of the match between Canadian Rebecca Marino and Japanese Nao Hibino, the No 7 seed, next.
