Kvitova ends the Haddad Maia streak, advances to Eastbourne final

Czech Petra Kvitova, the No 14 seed, reached the final of the Eastbourne International by winning against Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 15 seed, 7-6 (5), 6-4 at Devonshire Park Lawn Club on Friday.
Kvitova, ranked No 31, will play the winner of the match between Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the No 8 seed, and Italian Camila Giorgi, the No 12 seed, next.
The Czech beat Croat qualifier Donna Vekic (6-1, 7-6 (1)), wildcard Katie Boulter (5-7, 6-0, 7-5) and wildcard Harriet Dart (6-3, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds, Haddad Maia, ranked No 29, won against Estonian Kaia Kanepi (6-4, 3-6, 6-3), wildcard Jodie Anna Burrage (6-1, 6-2) and Ukrainian qualifier Lesia Tsurenko (W/O).
She had gone unbeaten so far during the grass season, winning the title in Nottingham and Birmingham.
