La Bisbal d’Emporda Open: Galfi beats qualifier Sonmez to book spot in last four

Hungarian Dalma Galfi advanced to the semi-finals of the La Bisbal d’Emporda Open by defeating qualifier Zeynep Sonmez 6-1, 7-6 (4) at the Club Esportiu CT La Bisbal in La Bislab d’Emporda.

Galfi, ranked No 148, will face Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle, the No 6 seed, next.

Earlier in the tournament, the Hungarian won against German Ella Seidel (7-6, 6-3) and Spaniard Marina Bassols Ribera, the No 7 seed (1-0 ret.).

Sonmez, ranked No 167, edged out Spanish wildcard Guiomar Maristany Zuleta De Reales (1-6, 7-6 (2), 6-4) and benefited from the abandonment of German Eva Lys (6-0, 3-1) in the previous rounds of the La Bislab d’Emporda tournament.
