Russian qualifier Darya Astakhova won against Romanian qualifier Cristina Dinu 6-2, 6-2 to move into the last eight of the Lasi Open at Baza Sportivă Ciric in Iasi on Wednesday.
Astakhova, ranked No 256, will play the winner of the match between Japanese qualifier Yuki Naito and Argentinian Paula Ormaechea next.
The 20-year-old Russian defeated Romanian Irina Bara, the No 7 seed (6-3, 6-3) in the previous round.
In the first round, Dinu, ranked No 313, benefited from the abandonment of Mihaela Buzarnescu (1-6, 3-5).
