Spaniard Rebeka Masarova edged out German Nastasja Schunk 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Lasi Open at Baza Sportivă Ciric in Iasi on Wednesday.
Masarova, ranked No 156, will play the winner of the match between Pole Maja Chwalinska and Serb Olga Danilovic, the No 4 seed, next.
The 22-year-old Spaniard won against Australian lucky loser Olivia Tjandramulia (6-0, 6-0) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Schunk, ranked No 146, had defeated Croat wildcard Antonia Ruzic (6-3, 6-4).
