Chinese Xiyu Wang beat Canadian qualifier Cadence Brace 7-6 (4), 6-1 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Les Championnats Banque Nationale de Granby on Wednesday night.
Wang, ranked No 75, will face Australian Daria Saville, the No 9 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the 21-year-old Chinese won against American Jamie Loeb (7-6 (4), 6-7 (5), 6-2).
Cadence Brace won against Slovenian Kaja Juvan, the No 7 seed (7-5, 6-3) in the previous round.
