Linz Open: Tauson reaches last eight, defeating Giorgi

Dane lucky loser Clara Tauson edged out Italian Camila Giorgi 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 to reach the quarter-finals of the Linz Open at the Design Center Linz on Thursday evening.
Tauson, ranked No 141, will play the winner of the match between Belgian Alison Van Uytvanck and Croat Petra Martic, the No 6 seed.
The 20-year-old Dane beat Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu, the No 3 seed (6-1, 6-2) in the previous round of the Linz tournament.
Giorgi, ranked No 73, won against Romanian Jaqueline Cristian (6-1, 6-2).
