Frenchwoman Chloe Paquet defeated Belarusian qualifier Iryna Shymanovich 6-4, 6-3 to advance to the quarter-finals of the L’Open 35 de Saint Malo on Thursday.
Paquet, ranked No 149, will face the winner of the match between American Peyton Stearns, the No 3 seed, and Australian Taylah Preston next.
The Frenchwoman edged out Mexican Renata Zarazua, the No 6 seed (3-6, 6-0, 6-4) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Shymanovich, ranked No 210, won against Russian Anastasia Tikhonova (4-6, 7-5, 6-2).
