Madrid Open: Begu ousts Rogers to reach last 16
Irina-Camelia Begu won against Shelby Rogers 7-5, 6-2 on Saturday and will play the winner of the match between Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the No 14 seed, and Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the No 19 seed, in the next round

Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu, the No 31 seed, won against American Shelby Rogers, the No 33 seed, 7-5, 6-2 to reach the second round of the Madrid Open at the Caja Magica on Saturday.
Begu, ranked No 35, will face the winner of the match between Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the No 14 seed, and Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the No 19 seed, next.
In the previous round of the Madrid tournament, the Romanian defeated Czech Karolina Muchova (6-4, 7-5).
Rogers, ranked No 38, beat Romanian Ana Bogdan (6-2, 6-2) during the 64 of the Madrid tournament.
