Madrid Open: Gauff through to fourth round
The American will meet the winner of the match between Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 16 seed, and Swiss Belinda Bencic in the next round

Fourth seed Coco Gauff advanced to the last 16 of the Madrid Open by defeating fellow American Ann Li 6-2, 6-3 at the Caja Mágica on Saturday.
This was her 16th victory on the tour in 2025 and the world No 4 will face the winner of the match between Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 16 seed, and Swiss Belinda Bencic next.
The American edged out Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska (0-6, 6-2, 7-5) ahead of her win today.
Earlier in the week, Li, ranked No 62, won against Belarusian qualifier Aliaksandra Sasnovich (6-3, 6-2) and edged out Canadian Leylah Fernandez, the No 25 seed (6-4, 3-6, 6-4).
