Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle, the No 5 seed, edged out Spaniard Leyre Romero Gormaz 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 to reach the last 16 of the Megasaray Hotels Open 2.
Carle, ranked No 97, will play the winner of the match between wildcard Ipek Oz and Romanian Ana Bogdan next.
