Slovak Veronika Erjavec reached the last eight of the Megasaray Hotels Open 2 by beating Chinese Xinyu Gao 7-5, 7-6 (5) on Thursday.
Erjavec, ranked No 154, will play the winner of the match between Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle, the No 5 seed, and Romanian Ana Bogdan next.
The Slovak won against Swiss Jil Teichmann, the No 4 seed (6-2, 6-4) in the previous round.
Earlier in the week, Gao, ranked No 133, defeated Swiss Celine Naef (6-0, 6-1).
