American Catherine McNally reached the second round of the Mérida Open by winning against Chinese Lin Zhu, the No 3 seed, 7-6 (3), 6-7 (5), 6-1 at the Yucatan Country Club on Monday night.
McNally, ranked No 92, will play the winner of the match between American wildcard Katie Volynets and Italian Lucia Bronzetti next.
