Spaniard Paula Badosa, the No 10 seed, defeated Dane Clara Tauson, the No 20 seed, 6-3, 7-6 (3) to reach the last 16 of the Miami Open at the Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday.
Badosa, ranked No 11, will play the winner of the match between American Madison Keys, the No 5 seed, and Filipino wildcard Alexandra Eala next.
Ahead of her victory, the Spaniard edged out Canadian wildcard Victoria Mboko (7-5, 1-6, 7-6 (3)).
Tauson, ranked No 23, won against Austrian Julia Grabher (6-4, 7-5) in the previous round of the Miami tournament.
